Chris Roberts, Director.
Chris officially left the Thomas Adams School in Wem, Shropshire at 16, after having achieved 8 CSE's. Chris's first job, which lasted two years and which taught him the rudiments of metal fabrication, was with a wrought iron blacksmithing business in Wem, which he has subsequently bought out. He then spent 14 years with a Shropshire engineering company, moving through the ranks from trainee into a management role. With this experience behind him Chris started CRF (UK) LTD in 1992.
Paul Gilbert - CAD and Production Engineer/Planner.
Paul attended Whitchurch Secondary Modern School and, having passed GCSEs, he went on to take Maths and Physics A levels at Shrewsbury College. He started work at Rubery Owen Prees Limited in 1977 in the production control department, working his way up to becoming Production Controller at their Warrington factory. He left due to closure of the factory and went to work as Works Manager at an engineering company in Deeside. When Paul and his wife decided to start a family he moved to a company nearer home as Works Manager, where he stayed until joining CRF in 2000. During the years Paul has worked in engineering he has taken several qualifications relating to his position, including NEBS in Supervisory Management and NVQ Level 3 in Cad and Engineering procedure.
Rachael Rawlings - Commercial Assistant.
After leaving Thomas Adams School, Rachael went on to complete a two year Private Secretarial Diploma course at Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology. She started at CRF in July 2000 as a Secretary/Receptionist. Rachael was then given the opportunity to do an NVQ level 2 in Administration and, having completed this successfully, she was given new responsibilities on the financial side of the company. Returning to work in February 2009 after maternity leave, she was then given a new role in the Sales and Purchasing Department.
Helen Roberts - Finance and Office Manager
Having spent several years as a landlady, Helen decided she needed a new challenge and looked for a 9-5, Mon-Fri position. Making use of previous office experience, she enjoys an administration role at CRF and being the first point of contact for customers and suppliers.
Phil Roberts BSc (Hons.) - CAD and Production Engineer.
Phil attended Thomas Adams School, Wem, where he achieved a total of 10 GCSE'S at level A-C. After moving onto Adams 6th Form College, Phil gained A'Levels in Media Studies and Computer Science in conjunction with AS-Levels in Mathematics and English Language. After college, Phil held roles as a Junior Draughtsmen/Draughtsmen in sister companies based in Oswestry and Welshpool, before being made redundant in the summer of 2006. Phil took the role of CAD and Production Engineer at CRF (UK) LTD and then was sponsored by CRF (UK) LTD to move into further education, enrolling on a Computer Aided Design Technology Course at Sheffield Hallam University. Phil graduated with a Batchelor of Science Honours Degree in June 2009.
Brian Roberts - Fabrication and Welding Shop Manager.
After leaving Thomas Adams School, Wem at the age of 16 Brian has spent 35 years in the Steel Fabrication Industry. During this time Brian gained many Welding Codings up to ASME 1X standard working on varied projects from Mining Equipment and Oil Rig Anchors to Car Production Lines and Wrought Ironwork. Brian has also had many years experience in CNC Profiling (Plasma & Gas) Operating and Programming.
John Cornwall - Machine Shop Manager.
John went to SJT School, Whitchurch where he gained 9 GCSE's A-D, John then stayed on at 6th Form to gain a GNVQ in Business and Finance. John spent two years at the Needham Group, then started a four year apprenticeship at Rednal Pneumatics where he gained various C & G Qualifications in machining and a night course to gain a CNC Machining Qualification at Level 3. At the same time he gained an NVQ level 2 & 3 in Mechanical Production. John decided to move closer to home where he started working at Egerton Hydraulics where he stayed for 12 years. The job for CRF then came up and was too big an opportunity to turn down to use his knowledge and learn new skills in pivotal role.
Bob Griffiths - Warehouse Manager
